Returned home about a week ago following our wonderful trip to Hawaii, Australia and New Zealand.
Wanted to take a few minutes to express our thanks and appreciation to you and to your staff for the recommendations and bookings on our behalf. All arrangements were executed as requested and we had a great time on Oahu.
The Kahala Hotel & Resort was exactly as you stated...excellent location and service. After visiting the Waikiki area we totally understand why you recommended avoiding it and staying around the eastern side of Diamond Head away from the hustle and bustle of the downtown and touristy region.
We had a lovely room at the Kahala and everyone was extremely friendly and helpful. The pool and beach areas weren't at all crowded. We hated to leave and wander the island but we did. Oh yes, we sought out the waitress you recommended (forget her name...Mary?) and used her every day. She was, as you noted, just a bit slow, but lovely and helpful and we were happy to see her each morning and to sit at one of her assigned tables. We also took advantage of the Dolphin facility located at the hotel which was an unexpected bonus. We had a few dinners at the facility which we found pleasant. Just an outstanding and restful place!
Took your advice and drove to the North shore via the recommended route. Used the entire day to see the sights, make some stops and enjoy the scenery, beaches and parklands. Beautiful day.
Finally, want to thank you for recommending the Keawe Adventures organization. We had a fabulous private guided tour of the Pearl Harbor facility. Another excellent day.
Our non-stop United flight to Oahu arrived on time and was a good flight. The Hawaiian Airlines flight I booked to Sydney was a disaster for several reasons that I won't go into but I'd pull their license and will clearly never recommend them to any family members or friends. Will be writing them to request compensation for the Brisbane to Sydney flights we booked after they dumped us during the night in Brisbane. Good cabin and flight crew but brain dead management. Shame on them!
Well, that's about it. Have thousands of digital shots that I hope to check out over the next couple of months after we catch up on a number of things. Great memories and we certainly hope to get back to Hawaii and have the opportunity to see other islands.
