Aloha! Just a quick note to let you know we are back home and reveling in the memories of our Hawaii vacation --it was absolutely the best vacation we 've experienced!
Thank you so much for your assistance and for providing the connections that made our stay pure heaven -We would not have been able to pull off such a fantastic time on our own! (We truly appreciate the outdoor party scheduled on our last night at the St. Regis to just went away. For whatever reason, it was moved inside to our relief and delight.) Hmmmm ...
And the St. Regis has to be the creme de la creme of resort hotels in the islands. Our own butler! We got really used to pushing a button on our phone and having just about every request be answered with a 'yes.' We found it to be a class act and run like clockwork. And Milton? Well, oh my, what can I say? The drool interfered with eating my sandwich :-)
The Mauna Kea is a beautiful property -I loved the cats, and a manta showed up our first night. It's a great place but a step down from the St. Regis in terms of service. There's good service, then there's excellent service. The beaches on both properties were OK -both too much like a circus or cruise ship in my opinion, with the chairs lined up in rows, and noisy people intruding on relaxation. But we're more introverted, and I'm used to very private beaches where relaxing doesn't mean watching volleyball or listening to a screaming kid --the kinds of things you can't predict, but which will occur when over 200 people have to share the same rather small beach. (Kudos to Noah at the St. Regis --he not only provided me with the best beach service (and milkshake) ever, but scheduled my massage too.) But we didn't go all that way for the beach and only spent 1 day on the beach at each resort. We had better things to do ...
Funny -no one we talked to on either island believed we went to Niihau. :-) And when you learn about what happened there, it will blow your mind. Talk about spiritual encounters! In journaling the trip (which I'm still doing) I find myself revisiting the mystery of spirit and synchronicity. What allowed all that we experienced to fall into place as it did? What allowed us to connect with you and put the plan in motion in the first place? I have my ideas. The answer is part of the mystery and we are grateful. Look forward to working with you again!
