I'm writing to let you know what a fabulous job Susan Tanzman and her team at Martin's Travel did for our family on our recent trip to Maui. Susan made it special as it was a multi-milestone trip for our family, from birthdays to a silver anniversary, to a life celebration. Susan knows Hawaii like no one else we've worked with. Traveling with teenagers can be challenging, but Susan's suggestion of the Kaanapali Shores condo and location was spot on. We wanted to do a luau as this was our children's first visit, and her recommendation in Wailea was perfect. Restaurant recommendations were tailored to the family, from "special" places to moderately priced that would accommodate finicky children's palates. But the most special treat was when we told her we wanted to renew our vows. Susan put us in touch with a local Hawaiian who conducts ceremonies, and we had the most special memory with our children as witnesses on a beach at sunset. Her contact took the time to explain to us and our children the meaning behind the words and ceremony. We got a personal touch at a cost that was much less than we were told by others a similar ceremony would run. We have priceless memories and the logistics went without a hitch. Susan and her team were a pleasure to work with, even though we were 2,300 miles from her office. We called numerous times with questions and never felt that we were a bother or felt anything less than her most important client.
Returned home about a week ago following our wonderful trip to Hawaii, Australia and New Zealand.
Wanted to take a few minutes to express our thanks and appreciation to you and to your staff for the recommendations and bookings on our behalf. All arrangements were executed as requested and we had a great time on Oahu.
The Kahala Hotel & Resort was exactly as you stated...excellent location and service. After visiting the Waikiki area we totally understand why you recommended avoiding it and staying around the eastern side of Diamond Head away from the hustle and bustle of the downtown and touristy region.
We had a lovely room at the Kahala and everyone was extremely friendly and helpful. The pool and beach areas weren't at all crowded. We hated to leave and wander the island but we did. Oh yes, we sought out the waitress you recommended (forget her name...Mary?) and used her every day. She was, as you noted, just a bit slow, but lovely and helpful and we were happy to see her each morning and to sit at one of her assigned tables. We also took advantage of the Dolphin facility located at the hotel which was an unexpected bonus. We had a few dinners at the facility which we found pleasant. Just an outstanding and restful place!
Took your advice and drove to the North shore via the recommended route. Used the entire day to see the sights, make some stops and enjoy the scenery, beaches and parklands. Beautiful day.
Finally, want to thank you for recommending the Keawe Adventures organization. We had a fabulous private guided tour of the Pearl Harbor facility. Another excellent day.
Our non-stop United flight to Oahu arrived on time and was a good flight. The Hawaiian Airlines flight I booked to Sydney was a disaster for several reasons that I won't go into but I'd pull their license and will clearly never recommend them to any family members or friends. Will be writing them to request compensation for the Brisbane to Sydney flights we booked after they dumped us during the night in Brisbane. Good cabin and flight crew but brain dead management. Shame on them!
Well, that's about it. Have thousands of digital shots that I hope to check out over the next couple of months after we catch up on a number of things. Great memories and we certainly hope to get back to Hawaii and have the opportunity to see other islands.
Lauren and I are having a blast! Thank you so much for your help planning everything. We're at the Fairmont Orchid about to embark on our Mauna Kea summit tour and enjoying every minute of it. I have to say we feel like the Fairmont Orchid is the most beautiful of all the places we have stayed so far and Lauren says she is the most relaxed she's been in a really long time. =)
If I had to dig deep for any constructive criticism to pass on to fellow travelers it would be that while the Smith Family gardens are beautiful and the food at their Luau was fabulous, the setting was too crowded. There must have been 500+ people there.
Otherwise, this has been the trip of a lifetime and cannot thank you enough and will certainly be recommending you to friends and family alike. Do you only do Hawaii or can you make accommodations anywhere?
We're here in Hawaii and it's gorgeous! Such a wonderful place to relax after the insanity of the wedding. We ate at the Cane and Canoe here, and it was great. Very relaxing and a wonderful start to our trip. It was really awesome.
The tour of the volcanoes was great yesterday, and we had a great time checking out waterfalls today. Eating at village burger then checking in to the Fairmont. Absolutely amazing trip so far, thank you for everything.
